High School Prep Class

Following a revamped format, we will once again be holding our High School Prep class again this winter. This is a 12 Week program beginning on Sunday December 1. Modified and Freshman players will go from 12-2pm while JV and Varsity players will go from 2-4. Each week will consist of individualized drills based on what their normal positions are to get them ready for their upcoming high school season. Pitchers and Catchers will work exclusively with Zach Breen, Dan Jones, and Steve DeLuca while Fielding and Hitting will be administered by John Ripepi and Jason Rose.

The class will be run in a practice style format so no one will have to decide whether to register in the Pitching or Hitting portions like years past. With hitters and pitchers working together in groups at a time, we are able to use more precise data with the use of Rapsodo and Hit Trax to track live metrics in an effort to gain the most refinement possible with the culmination coming later in the class through Live At-Bat’s.

Zach Breen: Zach has been with Frozen Ropes since March 2018 and has integrated new-age techniques in pitching development. With the use of weighted balls and Rapsodo, Zach has been able to introduce data to pinpoint areas that need to be improved. As always, each athlete will be on an arm strengthening and recovery program to be done before and after each throwing session. Zach played his college ball at Barton College in NC where he holds the career ERA record. After college, he moved on to play 2 seasons of Independent ball where he was the All-Star game starter, and closed out the 2017 Empire Pro League Championship.

Steve Deluca: Steve was an original Attendee of the Frozen Ropes High School Prep class from age 15 through college and is the first ever Frozen Ropes student to join the Frozen Ropes full time staff. Coach DeLuca played his college baseball at New England College graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sport and Recreation Management and Outdoor Education. He compiled career numbers including a .324 batting average, with 5 home runs and 30 runs driven in. Now working as the Head Coach of the Greenwich High School JV team and 18U Frozen Ropes Outlaws, Steve will be implementing his Catcher’s program during the class as well as hitting.

John Ripepi: John “Pep” Ripepi Jr. began working for Frozen Ropes in 2016. John was a graduate of Amsterdam High School, Class of 2007. John was a 3-Sport star for the Rams, playing 3 years of Varsity baseball and soccer, receiving all league accolades in both sports. Pep spent four years in the baseball program at MCLA where he started at shortstop for three plus seasons. He completed his playing career as the All-Time leader in steals in a season with 20. He continued his career at MCLA as an assistant coach while completing his degree. John has spent the last two years as the Assistant Coach for Hudson Valley CC and has spent his summers helping out with our travel program.

Jason Rose: Jason has been a student of ours for 12 years before moving on to play at Berry College in Georgia where he completed his degree in Sports Administration. Since graduating in 2018, Jason has been a coach in our travel organization as well as offering private hitting lessons. Jason spent this past year working as a Minor League Video Assistant with the Triple-A affiliate for the Toronto Blue Jays. He will incorporate video analysis and data breakdowns with the use of Hit Trax during the program.

Dan Jones BS, MS, NASM-PES: Dan has spent the past several years with Frozen Ropes working as a Pitching Instructor and running the Speed and Agility class. Dan received his B.S. in Sports Biology from Springfield College where was a Pitcher on the baseball team. Upon graduation Dan stayed on the staff at Springfield where he was a graduate assistant coach for the baseball team while he completed his M.S. in Exercise Science with a concentration in Exercise and Sport Psychology. During this time Dan worked with multiple baseball and softball athletes on their mental skills. Dan specializes in helping clients and athletes reach their highest potential through functional training and mental skills training. He is currently the co-founder of Capital District Sport and Fitness in Clifton Park where he specializes in individual program specialization based on each athlete’s needs. They are also an official sponsor of the Albany Dutchmen where the team gets all of the their training in each summer.
