The purpose-driven life: Ramirez consumed by desire to be great, and all else is background noise.
Excerpt from a recent article featuring the training habits of the games top hitter and Frozen Ropes student, Manny Ramirez.
"After batting practice, and shortly before the Red Sox take the field, Ramirez goes through vision drills with a member of the training staff. One exercise involves a staffer tossing to Ramirez a Hula Hoop-like plastic ring that runs through four evenly spaced, but different colored balls. In mid-flight, the tosser tells Ramirez what color ball he has to grab. Nine out of 10 times, Ramirez catches the correct one.
Ramirez also has trainers toss 1-inch diameter replica baseballs to him as he stands in a batting stance. As the ball approaches, Ramirez will "swing" down and catch the ball if it is in the strike zone.
Page notices that when Ramirez does not miss a ball, he tends to have the same success at the plate that day."
