Student-Athletes to Sign to Top 20 Schools.
Over the years, the interest in competitive softball has taken off in the Northeast. Consequently, there are many girls who's love for the game has motivated them to make Softball a year-round commitment, taking part in rigorous off-season training and college recruitment tournaments around the country in order to market themselves as Major Division I softball prospects. On Friday, November 16, 2007, at 6pm, several young ladies will be signing their National Letters of Intent. For some, it is to the school of their dreams, and for others it is the school that has won their hearts during the recruitment process.
Yorktown High School's Cassie Reilly-Boccia, will be signing her National Letter of Intent to the University of Alabama, where she will play for the 2007 regular season no. 2 softball program in the nation. Cassie plays first-base for Yorktown HS and for the Jersey Inferno Gold.
Henrick Hudson's Kirby Wright, will be signing her National Letter of Intent as well. Kirby will sign to play at the University of Nebraska. The Huskers were ranked no. 6 pre-season for 2007, and compete in the Big 12 conference. Kirby is a catcher for Henrick Hudson HS and the Jersey Breakers Gold.
Yorktown High School's Kasey O'Connor, will sign with the University of Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish was the runner up in the Big East Tournament in 2007. Kasey plays Shortstop for Yorktown HS and Jersey Intensity Gold.
The Signing/Ceremony will take place at Frozen Ropes Training Center, 55 South Broadway, White Plains, NY, where the players have honed their skills over the years. Participants in the ceremony will include the players' Highs School Coaches, Athletic Directors, Summer Coaches, Family, Friends, and local Media.
