im 14 years old and am now going into my 3rd year of baseball...when i hit the ball if it is in the batters box it is a ground ball but when it is out of the batters box and i hit it, it is a really good hit is there a way that i could fix my swing...me and my friend we goto batting cages all the time and we practice are swinging and throwing techniques all the time...my coach says it is cause i only swing half way through with both hands lik i let go wit the other hand about half way through...he says to lock my fingers together on the bat but it messes up my swing cause it is not comfortable

Coach Scott says:

Try working on your power L and drive the ball instead of driving it into the ground. It sounds like you may need to work on having your back arm in a L instead of exteding your arms full out. Next time you are in the cage wtih your buddy, try crossing your hands, it may feel weird at first but it works on helping you get that feel for the power L and drive the ball.

tyler says:

If you bat righty a great drill is to choke up about 3/4 of the way and do soft toss with your left hand, this will help you stay on the ball and swing through it with a quick powerful swing. Also try to stay inside the ball meaning keep the hands in and throw them out in front to lead the bat head and focus on driving through the ball upt he middle or to the opposite field.

Hi samuel,
I swing just like u do. I'm thirteen and use to play, i might go back but thinkin about it. I play wit my friends all the time. I swing just like you do. What I do, is that I try and get under the ball and drive it wherever I can. That works for me. Sometimes its not always good to get under it. Whenver i can't get under it i gound the ball. I think thats something everyone just to deal with
