What are high school coaches looking for when they are choosing their players?

Monday, January 04, 2010 by Chewy

I am a 14 year old baseball player. I was very good in middle school and was the best player on my school team. However, I am now a freshman in high school trying to make the varsity baseball team. What are some of the biggest challenges and differences I will be facing in high School baseball? What are high school coaches looking for when they are choosing their players? How can I impress the coaches?

Josh Anchondo says:

I must say aiming for varsity is a huge thing to do, but hey maybe your one of them who can. Well coaches in highschool look for more than talent. For freshman they look for potential and work ethic. i advise you to bust your ass every practice whether its drills or cleaning up. Also make sure to listen to their teachings and take them to heart. if you show hustle and talent you should have no problem making a team.
