Rob is a senior instructor and a travel team coach for Frozen Ropes after a long and successful playing career. After an All State high school playing career at Henry Hudson High School in Highlands, NJ, Rob was drafted in the 28th round by the Baltimore Orioles in 1986, but instead opted to go to college. In September 1986, Rob played in the Big League World Series and then started playing for Brookdale Community College.
In 1987 Rob was drafted again in the 10th round by the Chicago White Sox where he signed with the club and reported to rookie ball in Sarasota, Florida.
In June of 1988, Rob played short season A ball in Utica, New York for the Utica Blue Sox. From April of 1989 to 1992 Rob played A ball for club affiliates with the Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers, where in 93’ he played Double A and Triple A for the Brewers organization. In 94’ Rob signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Orioles Double A affiliate the Bowie Baysox and in 95’ signed with the Detroit Tigers organization Triple A Toledo Mudhens. In 1996, Rob signed with Montreal Expos organization where he played Double A and Triple A.
In July of 1996, Rob was called up to the Major Leagues with the Expos where he made his Major League debut. Rob played Triple A Ottawa in 1997 and later signed with the Independent team Somerset Patriots from 1998 to 1999.Througout Rob’s playing career he was asked to participate in three Minor League All Star Games where he won a homerun derby title.
In 2000 Rob retired from playing and became a member of the Patriots front office. In his time there he worked his way up from Operations Director to Assistant General Manager. Rob assisted the General Manager in evaluating talent and acquiring players for the season and in season moves. He also scouted and contacted players that were available to be signed by the Somerset Patriots including speaking with player agents. Rob currently is a board member for the Woodbridge Little League and an active coach in the league for his three children.
