Chrissy Yard has joined the Frozen Ropes staff as a softball instructor. She will leverage her college playing experience along with her college coaching experience to teach pitching, hitting and fielding skills to softball players of all ages. Chrissy is currently an assistant coach at Kean University serving as the pitching coach for the Cougars. In her first season at KU she managed the young-talented pitching staff where she coached Courtney Yard, who earned New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year award for her performance in the circle.
Yard spent the previous two years coaching in Connecticut as she worked as a graduate assistant for the University of New Haven in 2010 and assistant coach at Hartford University in 2011. During the 2010 season her team enjoyed a 42-8 record, advancing to the NCAA Division II Super Regional. Prior to coaching, Yard was a four year member at Rutgers University appearing in 117 games and tossing over 400 innings. During her sophomore campaign for the Scarlet Knights she recorded three saves, tying her for the standard in the single-season category. Yard excelled in the classroom as well by being named as a member of the BIG EAST all-academic squads in 2008 and 2009 and named a NFCA Academic All-American in 2009.
Prior to joining the Scarlet Knights, the Hillsborough, NJ native finished an impressive career at Hillsborough High School. As a freshman Chrissy was a standout both in the circle and at first base. The two time All-State and Somerset County Player of the Year led the Raiders to three consecutive Somerset County Championship titles and a Skyland Conference Champions her senior year. Yard also was named to the All-Group IV, All-Area and All-County teams in 2002 through 2005 seasons.
