Ron Witmeyer has a lifetime of experience coaching and playing baseball at the very highest levels. As the first baseman for Stanford University from 1986-1988, he was a leader on both the 1987 and 1988 NCAA College World Series Championship teams. Witmeyer hit over .400 in each World Series, was an All- Regional and All- CWS selection, and still ranks among Stanford's single season leaders in Game Played, Triples, and RBI's. Ron signed with the Oakland A's after his junior year and played in their organization for 6 years, reaching the Major Leagues in 1991. Upon retiring in 1993, he returned to the collegiate ranks as a coach. As hitting coach at Stanford and later at Cal Berkeley he helped develop more than 30 hitters who went on to play in the professional ranks. Six of his former hitters have made it to the Major Leagues, with 4 of them playing currently (Conor Jackson- Diamondbacks, John Baker- Marlins, Jody Gerut- Padres, Brian Horwitz - Giants). Additionally, 7 of his former players are currently knocking at the door of the big leagues at the AAA and AA levels. As Co-Owner and Director of Instruction at Frozen Ropes, Witmeyer is excited to bring the highest level of expertise and training to the baseball players of San Diego County and is proud to offer a training facility that is unmatched in Southern California.
