Danny Florence - Owner
Danny (Flo) is the owner of Frozen Ropes McKinney. He has more than 20 years of experience in coaching baseball and helping players maximize their baseball skills and is very well known in the national coaching community for his passionate attention to detail in all aspects of the game. Danny has been a national speaker at conventions throughout the country and is a specialist in analyzing throwing motion and helping players gain arm speed while reducing the chances of injury. He holds a BS in Kinesiology from University of North Texas.
Danny served as Assistant Coach at both Brookhaven CC and McKinney HS before taking over the reins at Sherman HS and building that program into an annual playoff contender. Danny has also spent the last 18 years coaching the highest level of select baseball in the DFW area and has been a scout for the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds. He is in charge of the development plan of the company as well as overseeing the instructional consistency of all baseball instruction at Frozen Ropes North Dallas. Danny and his wife Judy reside in McKinney, TX with their two children, AJ (22) and Bailey (18).
Corey Thornton - Lead Instructor
Coach T is Lead Instructor at Frozen Ropes Mckinney. He has 20 plus years experience in teaching and coaching baseball in the DFW area. Coach Thornton severd as an assistant coach at Brookhaven CC for 10 years and head coach for 3 seasons, helping BHC reach the NJCAA Division 1 Regionals and the NJCAA Division 3 Regionals. Coach T has helped guide teams to Connie Mack (18u) and Mickey Mantle (16u) World Series appearances in summer select baseball. His 2014 15U team won the AABC Ken Griffey Jr World Series and his 2014 12U team won the USSSA Triple A World Series. His 2015 16u team Won the Mickey Mantle World Series. Coach T specializes in catching and hitting, and has a large fastpitch hitting clientele. Coach T has had over 20 former players reach the Major Leagues and numerous others play in the minors.
Corey previously worked seven years an associate scout for the Tampa Bay Rays. Coach T got his start in the High School ranks, working two years as an assistant varsity coach. Coach Thornton began teaching private lessons in 1992 and received his BS in Kinesiology and MED in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. Corey resides in Farmersville Texas.
John Pat McKinney - Front Desk
John works the front desk and pro-shop at Ropes. John is responsible for scheduling and pro-shop sales. He worked 20 plus years in sporting good sales and accounts received. He is a long-time resident of McKinney, TX.
Lisa Garza - Uniforms/Pro Shop
John Briscoe - Senior Instructor
John is a Sr. Instructor and has been with Frozen Ropes North Dallas since 2005 and has quickly become one of the most popular pitching coaches in the system. He has a special way of teaching his students about mound presence, finger pressures, and the mental side of pitching as well as the rhythm and swing direction in his hitters. John spent 6 yrs with the Oakland A's during his 15 year professional baseball stint before arm injuries ended his pitching career. John and his wife Kay reside in Dallas, TX with their daughter, Sloan.
TJ Ladd - Senior Instructor/Camp Coordinator
TJ is our Youth Program/Party Coordinator and is a full time instructor at Frozen Ropes. He grew up in the Frozen Ropes system with Danny Florence and was a star infielder at McKinney North HS where he still holds the record for doubles in a season. TJ won offensive MVP honors as a senior After his college baseball career ended, TJ came back to become an instructor. Mr. Ladd is the camp coordinator and schedules all of the classes at Frozen Ropes North Dallas. TJ is in his 7th year here and is certified in the Frozen Ropes system. He also coaches the Frozen Ropes 13u Majors team and the 17u team. He resides in Mckinney.
Wes Morrow - Senior Instructor
Wes is a full time instructor at Frozen Ropes and coaches one of the 11u Majors teams. Coach Wes doubles as and assistant coach in the 15u division as well. Wes played for Coach Flo at Sherman high school where he was drafted in the Major League draft. He played two seasons at Grayson College as a two way player (a rarity in college baseball today) before beginning his professional career. Mr. Morrow was a pitcher in the Seattle Mariners organization where his fastball was clocked in the upper 90's. Coach Wes began his coaching career back at Grayson College befire coming to Ropes. Wes is a great communicator with youth players and is extremely knowledgable in all aspects of the game.
Jordan Badarack - Instructor/Recruting Coordinator
Coach Jordan has been coaching at Ropes for 6 years. He began as a student and a member of our select teams. Coach Jordan played for Coach T and Coach Flo. He played his college ball at Paris Junior College. After which, he returned to coach and train with Coach Flo. He is a full time instructor and the Recruiting Coordinator for the College Baseball Recruiting Service. In 2015 his 17 year old team won the 17U Don Mattingly National Championship and went on to compete in the 18U Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, New Mexico. Jordan will be coaching his 11U and 18U teams this year.
Justin Bethard - Instructor
Justin grew up in the Frozen Ropes system playing for both Coach Thornton and Coach Florence. In High School, he was a star pitcher, setting many records. He went on to play at Texas Tech University for Big 12 coach of the year, Tim Tadlock, where they made their first ever College World Series appearance. After his college career ended, he began as an assistant for Coach Thornton in the summer. In 2015, he helped the 16u team win the Mickey Mantle World Series. Justin is now an instructor and will be coaching an 11u team.
Laurie Wilson - Instructor/Softball Coordinator
John Bushart - Instructor
Coach John played collegiately at Cal State Northridge and Profesionally in the California Angels organization. He begain his coaching career in the high school ranks and quickly moved to the college level.. Coach Bushart coached 18 years at Los Angeles Pierce College, serving 13 years as the pitching coach and 5 years as the head coach. John worked 13 years as a part time scout for the Milwaukee Brewers. He's had 12 players reach the major leagues and helped place over 300 players in the collegiate ranks. John came to Ropes in 2015. He coaches two 14u AAA teams. He specializes in hitting and pitching lessons.
Robbie Moen - Instructor
Robbie was a standout student-athlete in high school where he was a 3 year Letterwinner in Football and Baseball. He was recruited and played baseball at the University of Arizona where he went on to appear in 2 NCAA National Championships. He was a 4-year starter, 3-time All-Pac 10 player and 2-time All-American. Robbie is still in the Top 10 all time at the U of A in career hits, doubles, at-bats, and is a member of the All-Century Team. He went on to coach baseball at Kansas State University and LMU. After coaching, he went on to be a professional baseball scout in California for the Tampa Bay Rays. Before moving to Texas, Robbie was running a Baseball/Softball Academy in Redondo Beach, CA.
