Explain
the rating system used by major league scouts.
20 - 80 are number grades assigned to players' various tools. 50 is
the ML average. Players are given a current grade and a future grade
i.e. what we think the tool will be like when the player is physically mature.
Running speed and arm strength usually max-out around 19-20 years
old. A player may learn to use his tools better (skill increase) but
the ‘power’ of the arm or foot speed has reached its peak. It
now becomes a matter of efficiency and technique, which can always be
improved.
